¿Quien Somos?
Somos. Seguimos.
Who are we?
Somos means “we are,” and to me, that’s exactly what this festival is about. Growing up Colombian-American alongside my half-Puerto Rican family in NYC, I was lucky to grow up surrounded by so many pieces of our cultures—from delicious Mexican food and Salvadoran pupusas to Dominican bachata and all the little luxuries that come with growing up Latino in New York.
That experience made me feel connected not only to my Colombian roots, but to all of our cultures. We celebrate each other’s wins, share each other’s music, food, and traditions, and we also feel the pain our communities endure, whether it happens here or back in our home countries.
With this spirit in mind, I've created SOMOSBKLYN so we can celebrate our culture, together.
